Evening 10 Time Trials Important News:

The Evening 10 series has had a very successful start with unprecedented record numbers of riders wanting to ride. We have had more riders than some district Open events this year! Unfortunately at our first few events, with the daylight hours available this has led to riders finishing uncomfortably close to sunset and our overriding priority is that we run a safe event for all riders. We apologise to the riders at the 2nd event who were disappointed as they were unable to ride because of failing light conditions and realise that as some of these were club members (and TT season ticket holders) this was an unhappy situation we wish to avoid in the future if we can. To alleviate the problem the club committee has made a number of decisions on numbers and priority of entry starting from next weeks event.

All the Evening 10 events will start at 7pm (not 7.15pm as some were previously published at) and once a 40 rider entry is reached, any further riders are at the timekeepers discretion.

Club members will have priority sign in, and will have up to 15 mins before the start time (so 6.45 for 7pm start) to sign in and receive their number (subject to the previously published safe riding number not having been already reached) . Anyone wishing to ride in a private trial will be able to register their interest to ride before 6.45pm but their name will be placed on a reserve list. 15 mins before the scheduled start any remaining spaces not taken by club members will be given to those on the reserve list.

We hope this addresses concerns that Club members get priority as it is their Championship and trophies are at stake! For members of our fellow clubs we have always welcomed and encouraged participation and in return we actively promote your Open and Club events to our members. We hope that you understand our need to prioritise for members and would expect that you may need to take similar measures at your own events in similar circumstances. Given the earlier start time, improving daylight conditions and timekeeper discretion we don't anticipate disappointing anyone.

Happy Racing!

Clubmark Presentation Evening:

British Cycling are to present the club with its Clubmark Award on Wednesday 23rd March at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham. A conference room is arranged from 6.30pm (actual presenattion will be sometime between 7 and 7.30pm), there will be a buffet and soft drinks available and Wattbikes will be set up in the Studio for anyone wanting a go! The event will be receiving publicity via the British Cycling website and all family, friends and anyone interested in the club are very welcome to come along.

New clubroom facilities:

This marks a new chapter for the Club as we now will have a weekly clubnight at Holme Pierrepont every Wednesday onwards from March 23rd from 6.30pm to 8.30pm in a studio room. This will tie in with our 7pm Wednesday evening rides around the lake and also our Go-Ride Wednesday evening events in the Summer.

The Presentation evening on March 23rd will also give you an opportunity to have a look around the clubroom and other facilities we have access to at Holme Pierrepont

We expect that this will benefit the Club greatly with weekly use of a room for meetings and indoor training sessions, a notice board in the main corridor, showers, use of adjoining kitchen, and the bar and restaurant.
Wednesday evening rides at 7pm would continue but if the weather is poor you now have the option to bring along your turbo / rollers instead and we hope to arrange regular access to the Wattbikes for training sessions too.

Above all this is a chance for all the Club to have a regular social meeting venue so even if you don't fancy a ride, you can meet up with your fellow Club members of all ages.
We also plan to hold workshops and demonstrations which could range from coaching sessions to anything biking related. We will be producing a programme of events in the near future.

Through our new relationship with Holme Pierrepont we hope to explore further developments for the Club, watch this space for any future news.
This is a big step forward for the Club so lets all make the most of it, see you there!

Well done to Club Coach Jenny Harwood who has been nominated for 'Community Coach of the Year' at the Notts Sports Awards.

The finalists will be invited to an awards ceremony on 21st February 2011 where the winners will be announced.

Here is what the nomination list has to say;

'Jenny has worked all year in all weathers to coach and support the Go Ride section of the Nottingham Clarion club. Now a level 2 coach, she has built up the membership base to a core of about 40 riders. She has also developed session and coaching plans for the project which have contributed to the club attaining accreditation. This work has enabled a further 20 riders from neighbouring clubs to attend indoor training sessions, and take WATT bikes on the road. Jenny also coaches the younger section of the club to compete in the cyclo cross league.'
